May 2013 Newsletter

Plenty to Celebrate!

May is here and we look forward to the many special occasions during the month that provide us a chance to gather with family and friends.  From the festivities of Cinco de Mayo, to Mother’s Day, to congratulating our college grads, and then finishing up by honoring our country and those who serve her on Memorial Day, we have a lot to celebrate.

Reminder:  Angela’s is closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.

May is Austrian Wine Month – we are celebrating Austrian wine month with a variety of offerings from this little known wine producing country.  On May   17th we will have a special Austrian wine tasting.

Wine of the Month:

 Paul D. Gruner Veltliner

Winemaker Notes:  This 2009 vintage has a golden straw color with delightful aromas of stone fruits and spice.  A wonderful palate of spicy stone fruits and apple flavors with a long dry mouthwatering finish – think un-oaked chardonnay.   Perfect for beach blankets and sunny day hangouts with friends.

Paul D. Zweigelt

Winemaker Notes:  This 2009 vintage is spicy, medium to full-bodied, balanced raspberry fruit but not a drop of oak to be found. Pure drinkability and a possible house red this summer.  Serve cool, with a slight chill.  Perfect for all kinds of grilled foods like fish, chicken and burgers.

May Special: $13.95 per 1 liter bottle (33% more than standard wine bottles) or 2 for $25.90

Pasta of the Month:

Ratatouille Ravioli – a blend of zucchini, eggplant, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, red onions, garlic, fresh thyme, and fresh basil wrapped in a spinach pasta.

Pkg. of 12                   $6.95

Cheese of the Month:

Le Gruyere

Le Gruyère AOC is prepared from the finest raw milk from cows fed on grass during the summer and hay during the winter. The use of any additives is prohibited.

The much-loved Gruyère AOC cheese has been produced in the region of Gruyère, Western Switzerland, since the 12th century. A staple of all gourmet cheese platters, and a versatile cooking and eating cheese, Le Gruyère AOC takes on extremely noble notes when aged to full maturity. Le Gruyère AOC, aged 11 months, from the Cavern range is a deliciously full-bodied cheese – distinguished from its milder variants by a distinctive crystalline crunch, a hard crumbly and grainy paste and melting grains.

May Special @ $18.95/lb.
