A Change of Seasons

 

September marks the beginning of the fall season, one of the most beautiful times of year here in New Hampshire.  At Angela’s, we turn our attention to providing new seasonal offerings.

Effective September we are also back to our regular store hours:

Monday – Friday         9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday                      9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Wines of the Month:

Zagarron Wines  – from the heart of the La Mancha region in Spain.  Zagarron vineyards represent the efforts of 780 wine growers in the region.

Hacienda Zargon Chardonnay

Winemaker Notes:  100% Chardonnay.  Stainless steel fermentation is followed by 3 months of ageing on the lees, giving the wine richness and mouth-feel.  The 2013 is characterized by fresh apple and peach notes and tropical flavors.

Hacienda Zargon Syrah

 

Winemaker Notes:  Intense, very deep purple hue.  Powerful on the nose, with red fruit and some herbal notes.  Pleasant and honest.  Smooth and intense on the palate.  Good balance and structure.  Meaty and powerful.  Fantastic with braised meats or Bolognese sauce.

Pasta of the Month:

Cinnamon Apple Ravioli – Granny Smith Apples baked with brown sugar and cinnamon, then wrapped in a Cinnamon Pasta.  Great with pork or as an appetizer or dessert.   Available in our freezer case.

Cheese of the Month:

Grafton 2 Year Aged Cheddar

 

From the Grafton Village Cheese Co. in Vermont. This 2 year award-winning (over one dozen) aged cheddar cheese is an artisanal cheddar handcrafted from premium raw cow’s milk from small Vermont family farms.  With its mellow tartness and creamy finish, this cheese is excellent when accompanied with dried fruits and nuts, crusty breads, and big wines.  Also an excellent compliment for fresh picked apples or apple pie.

What’s New At Angela’s

 

Number 9 – Salsas.  Created for those who love the taste of authentic salsa.  Each variety is made with at least 9 healthy veggies and four to five varieties of peppers to develop a rich, well rounded flavor that is complex and satisfying.  Instead of vinegar, this salsa is made with lime juice to impart a flavorful citrus finish.  Non GMO and Gluten Free.  Available in four flavors:

Stonewall Kitchen –  Cranberry Harvest Hand Soap & Lotion.  Nicely balanced with the wonderful fragrance of sweet, ripe currants and tart, tangy cranberries. Each product is highly effective and leaves skin feeling smooth and soft. Bottom line, Cranberry Harvest’s refreshingly light, homey scent makes a wonderful addition to any home.

Recipe of the Month

 

Grilled Chicken & Tomato Bruschetta Sandwich

 

4 boneless chicken breasts
Elki’s Tomato Bruschetta
salt & pepper to season
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
8 slices (thin) fresh mozzarella
4 ciabatta rolls or sandwich rolls

1. Combine balsamic vinegar and olive oil in a bowl. Season both sides of chicken with salt and pepper as desired and place on medium heat grill.

2. Brush top of chicken with vinegar and oil mixture. Cook for 4-5 minutes and turn chicken. Brush with remaining oil mixture and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until cooked through.

3. Place 2 slices of cheese on bottom half of rolls then layer with chicken breasts, Elki’s Tomato Bruschetta and two more slices of cheese. Place top rolls to make a sandwich and grill both sides until toasted. Serve warm.
